Ambroxol is a chemical drug which is mainly used for the treatment of disease related to the respiratory systems. Its molecular weight is nearly equal to 378.10 grams per mol with a chemical formula of C13H18Br2N2O. It is also known as a secretolytic agent used in the cure of viscid or excessive mucus. Ambroxol can be used as the active constituent of Mucosolvan, Lasolvan or Mucoangin. Due to the presence of excessive nitric oxide which enhances the activation of soluble guanylate cyclase and cGMP accumulation to suppress the excessive mucus secretion which in turn lowers the phlegm viscosity and improves the mucociliary transport of bronchial secretions.
